Another great natural way to support the body through stress is with adaptogens. Everyone's stress is a bit different so the adaptogen that is right for you may be different than the one right for someone else.
Adaptogens like Ashwagandha, Ginseng, Astragalus, and Maca can be helpful to support the body to adapt to stress. For people who have excess cortisol or work out a lot Ashwagandha is helpful. Ginseng is great for people who have constant stress, and stress of energy mentally or physically throughout the day. People with cardiovascular and need an immune boost can use Astragalus. Rhodiola and Schisandra help to conserve energy, while Ginseng and Gynostemma help increase or release energy. Those with adrenal issues needing support or help to restore would use Licorice (not advised with low blood pressure) or Rehmannia. Men's endocrine supporting adaptogens are Tribulus, Withania or Ashwagandha, Fenugreek, and Ginseng.
Women's endocrine support, for balancing prolactin which helps during pregnancy and menopause is Chaste tree/Vitanox. Oestrogen (a form of estrogen) balancing is Shatavari, False unicorn, or Wild yam. Androgen excess (testosterone) Paeony or Licorice. Lack of androgen (testosterone) Ashwagandha or Ginseng.
All adaptogens are helping you adapt to stress you are having internally or externally and support balance in the body. Each adaptogen can have different mechanisms or they impact different mechanisms These are herbs so you should be cautious with using any of the adaptogens with medication. If you are on medications and want to use natural foods to support the body with stress, I recommend you go towards minerals, fats, and proteins. If you are not currently doing any of these and have an overwhelming amount of stress. I would recommend finding the one that fits your situation while also adding minerals, proteins, and fats.
If you need help with finding one that works for you feel free to set up an appointment and I would love to help you.
